Missouri Issues New Rules on Expungements

An expungement is when you ask a court to remove a conviction or guilty plea of a crime from your criminal record.  Missouri has issued new rules on expungements.  First, there is now a $250 filing fee.   Second, only the following crimes can be expunged: (1) any felony or misdemeanor offense of writing a bad check, (2) any felony or misdemeanor offense of fraudulently using a credit device, and (3) other offenses.  Third, the following crimes cannot be expunged: (1) Class A felonies, (2) Dangerous felonies, (3) Sex offenses, (4) Crimes resulting in a death, (5) Felony assault, and (6) other offenses.
