Ashraf Eldeknaway, a tax preparer in Portland, Maine, pled guilty to one count of aiding and assisting in the\npreparation of a false tax return. To claim the Earned Income Tax Credit and a\nfraudulently increased refund, Eldeknawey admitted to willfully preparing a\nfalse 2015 tax return for two clients that intentionally included overstated\nself-employment. The preparation of the false returns caused a loss between\n$40,000 and $100,000 to the government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
