The San Diego businesswoman was convicted\nof taking investor funds, meant for loans for liquor licenses, and laundering\nthe money into her own companies, as well as for her own personal use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thumbs.dreamstime.com\/b\/justice-gavel-11657488.jpg\" alt=\"See the source image\" width=\"241\" height=\"181\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The former American National Investments CFO, Crispin\nTorres, who played an accomplice to Champion-Cain, also plead guilty. His role\nin the scheme involved him fabricating receipts, transferring funds to escrow\naccounts, and opening a bank account under a similar name as the original\naccount used for the investors to deposit their funds into. 100 investors invested\nover $400 million between the years 2012-2019, one of those investors lost\nabout $1 million alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being sued?
