IRS Relaxes IRA Transfer Rules

The IRS has recently relaxed a long-time rule punishing people who do not correctly transfer money from one retirement account to another within sixty (60) days of pulling out the money. Now, the IRS offers some exceptions to this sixty (60) day rule, including a lost check or a death in the family.

Less Money Doesn’t Mean Less Child Support

A Missouri court has recently held that a person incurring a reduced income from lack of overtime did not mean the person’s child support payments could be reduced. Instead, in order to have your child support reduced, you must have at least 36 overnights with your child per year before a Missouri court will think about reducing your child support.

Crime Doesn’t Pay……Not Even for Financial Advisors

A financial advisor in Edina, Minnesota pled guilty to taking $220,000 from an elderly client who suffered a stroke. For pleading guilty, he was sentenced to 41 months in prison because it was alleged that the financial advisor stole money from the elderly client, including using their Social Security Number to take money from the client’s annuity.

Wells Fargo and the $50,000,000 Settlement

Hulk Hogan Receives $31,000,000 Settlement

Gawker Media, LLC has reached a $31 million settlement with Hulk Hogan in order to satisfy Mr. Hogan’s judgment against Gawker for $140 million. The settlement must be approved by a bankruptcy judge since Gawker filed for bankruptcy after the $140 million judgment was awarded.
