In a recent court case in Kansas, the court stated that a breach of a non-compete agreement that occurred after the filing of a bankruptcy was not erased by the bankruptcy. The ruling came from a case between Michael Capps and Cybertron International Inc., in which Capps was claiming that his bankruptcy removed the repercussions of breaching the non-compete when writing it off as a debt claim in his chapter 7 filing. The court ruled against Capps for multiple reasons. The breach of his non-compete occurred after his petition for bankruptcy and, more importantly, the non-compete breach fee is not claimable as a debt in a bankruptcy.

Deer poacher David Berry Jr. has been ordered to watch the Walt Disney movie Bambi at least once a month as a part of his year-long jail sentence. He was convicted of illegally killing wildlife and a firearms probation violation.

Attorney Scott Maasen has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay $1.4 million in restitution in a bankruptcy fraud case. He filed for bankruptcy in 2009 after he stopped making payments on a $1.5 million loan. Maasen purchased a $90,000 engagement ring for his fiance while proceedings were pending by using a credit card and bank account in his fathers name. 

He has previously pleaded guilty to one count of concealment of assets in bankruptcy.
