The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) has issued a report statement that the 2019 tax filing season will likely be delayed due to under staffing issues.

Due to the lengthy process to hire employees, the TIGTA report says positions might not be quickly filled causing risk to the timelines of the information technology updates.

Delays in updating, modifying, and testing these technology systems will result in a delayed start of the 2019 filing season.

American Tire Distributors Inc., filed for chapter 11 protection in Delaware after reaching a deal with most of its bondholders to cut about $1.1 billion of debt. Bondholders will get equity in a new, reorganized version of the company through a plan that is still subject to court approval, according to the filing.

The company has yet to reach a deal with a group of senior leaders, however, and said those talks will continue.

The new tax law known as the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, has eliminated the deduction for any expenses related to entertainment, amusement, or recreation. A federal judge sentenced disgraced former Jackson county Executive Mike Sanders to 27 months in prison for engineering a kickback scheme in which he spent tens of thousands of dollars in embezzled campaign fund to pay for trips, buy fine wine and carry out political dirty tricks.

The sentence includes 3 years of supervised release after Sanders, who under the federal system will serve a minimum of 23 months of incarceration. He must report to prison of November 5th.

Lindsay Lohan’s mom is seeking bankruptcy protection to save her home. Dina Lohan filed a chapter 13 petition in Long Island, estimating her debts at more than $1 million. According to the documents, her house is valued at $1.27 million.

The house has been in foreclosure and was scheduled to go on the auction block. The bankruptcy effectively halts the sale.
