If you have a child support order stating that you should receive child support, but your ex isn’t paying the court-ordered support, then you may be able to deduct the child support from their Social Security.
If your ex is receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), then you will not be able to deduct your child support from your ex’s Social Security payments. However, if your ex receives retirement, disability, or survivor benefits from Social Security, then you are able to deduct your child support from their payments.
