Bankruptcy Won’t Lift Suspension of a Driver’s License for Failure to Pay Traffic Fines

Filing a Chapter 13 bankruptcy will not force the state to renew a driver’s license that was suspended because of a failure to pay a fine. In a recent Missouri bankruptcy case, the court found that there was no discrimination against the debtor because the city had suspended the debtor’s license long before bankruptcy. Likewise, the refusal to reinstate the license was not discrimination because the decision was made will before the bankruptcy when the debtor refused to pay the fine.Image result for drivers license cartoon
