Mr. Valentine of Liberty, Utah has pled guilty to bank fraud and bankruptcy fraud for failing to disclose assets in connection with his bankruptcy case. It was alleged that Mr. Valentine provided false statements to U.S. Bank in order to get U.S. Bank to lend him $362,000 as well as selling real estate and not reporting the proceeds to the bankruptcy court.

The IRS has recently relaxed a long-time rule punishing people who do not correctly transfer money from one retirement account to another within sixty (60) days of pulling out the money. A Missouri court has recently held that a person incurring a reduced income from lack of overtime did not mean the person’s child support payments could be reduced. Instead, in order to have your child support reduced, you must have at least 36 overnights with your child per year before a Missouri court will think about reducing your child support.

A financial advisor in Edina, Minnesota pled guilty to taking $220,000 from an elderly client who suffered a stroke. For pleading guilty, he was sentenced to 41 months in prison because it was alleged that the financial advisor stole money from the elderly client, including using their Social Security Number to take money from the client’s annuity.
