Kansas City Steel Werx Inc., took on a job as steel and labor subcontractors to help build a development project. This took a sharp turn when KC Steel filed a mechanic’s lien for around $400,000 against The District City Center LLC. It turns out, the filing was incomplete which gave the District City Center a chance to file a motion to dismiss it.

The district court made an error and ruled the claim fraudulent instead of incomplete which lead the case to be remanded.
